The BCL is open to players who are the children or grandchildren of golf members or junior members of a golf club that participates in the BCL and who are aged 22 years or younger during the calendar year. There is no minimum age to participate, however, most players are between 13 and 22 years old due to the competitive nature of the league and the length of the courses in which we compete.

In addition, many of our BCL teams allow non-members to participate on their BCL teams. The decision to allow non-member participation is made solely by the participating club and interested non-members should reach out to one of the participating clubs or coaches to determine if they allow non-members and if they have openings on their teams. In some cases, participation as a non-member may lead to an offer of junior membership at a club.

The BCL is a competitive golf league with players that are accomplished golfers. Most participants can shoot scores below 90 on a regular basis and many of our players are capable of shooting under par on any given day. Younger and developing players who can shoot scores at that level but may not consistently do so currently are also encouraged to join their BCL team.

Boys play from the tips (6,500-7,000) yards and girls play from forward tees with equivalent course rating (5,800-6,200 yards). Most teams have between 15 and 30 players to ensure they can field a minimum of eight players during each match.

One of the goals for our players is to give them the opportunity to practice and compete so they can play at an elevated level. BCL is often the next step for junior players after learning the game in other junior programs or the PGA Jr. League at your club or for those who have started to or regularly compete in other tournament leagues, including the Junior Tour of Northern California (JTNC), Junior Golf Association of Northern California (JGANC), or the American Junior Golf Association (AJGA).
